The Crab Fest Experience

You don't just go to Crab Fest

The Louisbourg Crab Festival is more than an event...it's an experience.  Whether you're looking for the best seafood, the best entertainment or the best of friends - you're part of the experience - you are the experience.   24 years ago a group of local citizens had an idea of starting a Crab Festival. What a better way to end the summer and celebrate the delicious landings of the local crab fishermen at the same time. Little did they know then, that this little idea would grow into a world-famous festival with people making it a point of returning year after year. Since its humble beginnings in the summer of 1993, the Crab Fest has improved and grown stronger each year. More than 5000 people each year make the Crab Fest experience one not to miss!

Two days of non-stop greatness!

What you can expect...

Mmmmmmm...Mussels. Crab. The festival gets underway early in the evening on Friday with various performances by traditional entertainers. Bar service is available from 7:30 pm, and for those craving a taste of the sea, mussels will also be available during Friday evening. In addition to the seafood fare, canteen services will also be available on the site. Unique Crab Fest merchandise will be sold, along with other special items, making great souvenirs of this annual event. Beginning on Saturday, crab dinners will be on sale from 12:00noon “'til they’re gone.” Such community dinners have the deserved reputation of providing inseason fare at excellent prices. Superb entertainment will continue including performances by various local bands throughout the day and well into the evening, children’s entertainment, face painting, and “games galore”. The festival boasts a superb line-up of toe tappin’ music, sure to please all in attendance. The bar and canteen services will be open all day and well into the evening, as well.

Fun

Music. Activities. Good Times.

Friends

New. Old. It doesn't matter.

Crab Fest weekend is something of a homecoming, where old friends get reacquainted......but it only take a few minutes and you're part of the family.  Welcome.   The Louisbourg Crab Fest Committee, in conjunction with the local Volunteer Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary, sponsors the festival, along with numerous volunteers who help contribute toward its success each year. It takes place under big-top tents on the water front site adjacent to Louisbourg’s boardwalk. This is a family-oriented event, with activities such as games and face painting for children, as well as an impressive roster of live entertainment.
